As Styled By - McLean & Co Interiors
Meet Juliana McLean, founder of McLean & Co Interiors, a Victorian-based interior design studio creating calm, comfortable and stylish spaces for every stage of life.
With more than eight years' experience in property styling and soft furnishings, Juliana has a particular love for fabric, texture and the details that bring a home together. Her work spans modern farmhouse, provincial farmhouse, Hamptons and modern coastal interiors, with a focus on creating spaces that feel beautiful while still working for everyday life.
From e-design and soft furnishings to product sourcing, renovations and new builds, McLean & Co offers a tailored approach depending on each client's home, lifestyle and the level of support they need.
We caught up with Juliana to talk about her approach to interiors, the elements she returns to again and again, and what she loved about styling our French Bench.

Tell us a little about McLean & Co Interiors. What inspired you to start your own design studio?
I’ve always loved the way a home can influence how you feel, and I wanted to create a business that allowed me to help people make their homes feel like their own. After working in property styling and soft furnishings, starting my own studio felt like a natural next step.
Being in a family-focused stage of life myself, I understand that a home needs to work for the people living in it. I love helping clients bring their ideas together and creating spaces that feel personal, welcoming and reflective of the way they live.

You offer everything from e-design and soft furnishings to renovations, new builds and product sourcing. What do you love about working across such different projects?
I love that no two projects are the same. Every client has different needs depending on their home, lifestyle, budget and how much support they are looking for, so I can tailor the design process around them.
Sometimes that might mean helping someone transform a room through soft furnishings, furniture and styling, or working with them through e-design from the comfort of their own home. Other projects involve being involved from the very beginning of a renovation or new build, helping with layouts, colours, selections and cabinetry.
I also really enjoy product sourcing because sometimes it is just about finding that one piece that a room is missing and making everything else fall into place.

You recently collaborated with Rekindle through your project Mount Haus, featuring our French Bench. What was it about the piece that appealed to you?
I loved how versatile the French Bench was. It is a piece that can work in so many different areas of the home and doesn't have to be limited to one particular purpose.
I could see it working beautifully at the end of a bed, in an entryway or as extra seating in a living space. I love furniture that can move with you and be used in different ways throughout a home.
It also has that lovely sense of character that works so well with the styles I gravitate towards, particularly modern farmhouse and more relaxed, layered interiors.

Your work has a strong focus on texture, fabric and creating homes that feel considered. What are some of the elements you find yourself returning to again and again?
Fabric and texture are definitely a big part of my work. I love layering different textures and natural materials to create warmth and depth, and I'm always drawn to beautiful linen, soft furnishings and pieces with character.
I also think balance is really important. Every element in a room needs to work with the others, rather than competing for attention. Ultimately, I want a space to feel beautiful but also comfortable and lived in, because your home should be somewhere you genuinely enjoy spending time.

For someone considering working with McLean & Co, what can they expect?
We always begin by understanding the client, their home, their family and what they are hoping to achieve. From there, we can tailor the level of design support to suit their needs, whether that's a few hours of advice and sourcing or ongoing guidance throughout a renovation or new build.
I love that the process can be as hands-on as the client needs. The goal is to make the design experience feel approachable and to give each client the right support to create a home that feels personal, considered and right for them.
