Our Story
We're Hendrik and Lena, and Rekindle Design Co. began when we returned home to Australia in 2019 after spending more than a decade living in Europe.
During our years abroad, we fell in love with the timeless character of the beautiful furniture we discovered wandering weekend markets, antique stores and second-hand dealers. Pieces that had already lived a lifetime, yet still possessed a warmth, beauty and craftsmanship that made them just as relevant today.
Those experiences shaped the way we think about furniture. We wanted to capture the soul of those vintage finds while creating pieces that feel effortlessly at home in contemporary living. Furniture with the character and authenticity of an heirloom, but with the confidence, quality and practicality of being beautifully made, brand new.
Each Rekindle collection is designed from our studio in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Australia. While our pieces take inspiration from classical design, they are grounded in an Australian way of living. Relaxed, uncomplicated and made for homes that are truly lived in.
Every piece is crafted from solid natural timber. No MDF. No veneer disguising inferior materials. No shortcuts hidden beneath beautiful finishes. Just honest materials and thoughtful proportions, designed to age gracefully through generations.

The faces behind the furniture
Lena
As Co-founder and Creative Director, Rekindle Design Co. has been a passion project of Lena’s for many years.
During the first part of her career, Lena spent several years working for her family's business which is where her entrepreneurial spirit was born.
With an Australian mother and a Swiss father, Lena grew up in Brisbane but spent close to 15 years living and working in Switzerland, where she discovered her love for vintage European furniture and homewares. Lena is responsible for the design of all of Rekindle Design Co.'s exclusive pieces and products.
Hendrik
Hendrik is originally from Germany but moved out to Australia in 2019 after falling in love with the wide-open spaces and amazing wildlife. Hendrik runs logistics and quality control at Rekindle Design Co. He makes sure your orders are packaged securely and delivered out to you safely and on time! Hendrik also works closely with our manufacturing partners to ensure our products meet his German quality standards!
Hendrik's meticulous attention to detail and strong work ethic have made him an indispensable asset at Rekindle Design Co. His German precision and dedication to quality control ensure that every product leaving their facility meets the highest standards.
