Article: A market find in the South of France

A market find in the South of France
In 2018, we stumbled across a vintage hall table at a market in the South of France. It had the kind of subtle detailing that's hard to place and we bought it on instinct.
That table became the reference point for the very first piece we ever designed: the Chloé Bedside. The popularity of this first product gave us the confidence there was a market for this kind of design in Australia, and had we not packed that vintage piece into the boot of our car back in 2018, Rekindle quite literally may not exist today.

The translation from reference to design was deliberate. We kept what we loved, including the subtle French details, the matte finish, the solid timber drawers, and refined what we didn't. Dimensions were reworked to sit properly beside a bed. Pine gave way to premium oak and walnut to create a luxe finish. Brushed brass handles were the final touch: warm-toned, understated, and exactly right.

The drawers are worth a mention on their own. There's something about the weight of solid timber, the way it glides on waxed runners, that modern furniture rarely bothers with anymore. It's functional in the old sense, you feel it as much as see it.
The Chloé Bedside remains our best-selling product and has kept us true to the original reason we founded Rekindle: to bring beautiful furniture to the Australian market, crafted the way it used to be.
